While you may not be able to protect against each of these causes, paying attention to the symptoms of hearing loss can help you combat its adverse effects early on. A few symptoms to look out for in yourself and your loved ones include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Muffled speech or other noises<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Trouble understanding speech when background noise is present<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Trouble hearing consonant<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Turning the TV up louder than is comfortable for others<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ringing in the ears (tinnitus)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Withdrawal from social settings<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Hearing loss is extremely common. World Hearing Day (March 3<sup>rd<\/sup>)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>There are currently more than <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.who.int\/health-topics\/hearing-loss#tab=tab_2\" target=\"_blank\">1.5 billion people<\/a> living with hearing loss in the world. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.who.int\/campaigns\/world-hearing-day#:~:text=3%20March%20is%20World%20Hearing,hearing%20care%20across%20the%20world.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">World Hearing Day<\/a> is the World Health Organization\u2019s day to raise awareness about hearing loss and deafness prevention methods and promote ear and hearing care worldwide. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Take time on March 3<sup>rd<\/sup> to spread the word on the importance of hearing healthcare through your social media, email and word-of-mouth channels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. National Speech-Language-Hearing Month (May)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Formerly \u201cBetter Hearing and Speech Month,\u201d ASHA\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.asha.org\/national-speech-language-hearing-month\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">National Speech-Language-Hearing Month<\/a> focuses on raising awareness about speech disorders and encouraging people to think about their own hearing health.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Take time this May to <a href=\"https:\/\/kampsenhearing.com\/hearing-loss\/testing\/\">schedule a hearing test for yourself and your loved ones<\/a>.
